Fun, sun, chilli bun :)

f th

Found this fellow perched on my 'love fern' this morning. I am rather afraid of these guys. I mean the praying mantis, not the food, but one doesnt see them everyday. He sat there quite a while only to disappear later on (much to my horror, imagining to find him inside the house, or worse still clinging onto me (luckily he was spotted several hours later by the fence. Phew.

Joscelyn had a busy day. This morning started off with walking around the garden followed by playing in her sandpit then we filled some tupperware dishes and got some cups and she had a marvelloues time getting soaked and splashing water everywhere. Daddy then took her swimming, her last lesson until summer I suppose. She fell asleep on the way home and slept from 11am until 1pm. Another long nap. While they were out I got some washing out, vacuumed and mopped the house (and snuck in a chapter of 'Pride and Prejudice' - nearly done, 20 pages to go.)

When she woke she had lunch, not much then her and hubby went to the shops and I tried to indulge in a nap. With my back being sore I put the hot wheat bag on it for a while, once again seizing another opportunity to read a short chapter. I tried sleeping but the neighbourds were having a party and the arrival guests were pretty loud. Then the TV suddenly started blaring. Maybe I had 20 minutes. IT was good to just park off.

Joscelyn was very sprightly upon returning from the shop (and very well behaved at the shop apparently) and once again enjoyed time outside.Again, the sandpit. I taught her to use her watering can to water my plant - she stands so far away but when a few drops emerge she grins absolutely thrilled. More sandpit, water play. She climbed to the TOP of a ladder - a big adult one we borrowed to put our outside cover up. I stoood behind her but did not aid her at all!! Then we got the sprinkler out and she enjoyed investigating and splahing around in it. The neighbours cat was also out (on their side) and she waved frantically at it and gave it a few squeaks.

Hubby made us yummy chiily dogs for dinner. Now for some wine and to finish the movie we started last weekend...Jos had us up late last Saturday so we started it on Friday but I was too tired to watch more (And secretly wanted to read) so we were to watch the next tnight. LEt me go...Have a happy Saturday

My little noodle

Joscelyn and I spent the day together. She was pretty teary this morning, probably because she went to bed after 8 last night, when her usual bed time is 7pm. She should really just have a sleep in, although around 5.55am I wake up and within a few minutes she is wakes up. She could be an alarm clock :)

We went to Rattle and Rhyme and then came straight home ( I was employing all sorts of loud tricks to keep her awake on the way to the library!! I succeeded) because she was exhausted. She fell asleep in the car and I put her in her pram when we got home. She slept for 2 hours then woke up. I picked her up and she fell asleep on me for another 30 minutes. I didn't really get to anything because her sleeps aren't usually that long, she kept stirring so I just kept thinking she was going to wake up so I took the opportunity to put my feet up.

Finding food that Jos will actually eat is never easy. Hubby suggested we try 2 minute noodles. They were a hit! (Well today anyway) Best part was sitting on the kitchen floor, eating 2 minute noodles with our fingers and listening to her suck and slurp them. She really enjoyed them being so long and enjoyed dangling them from her fingers too :)

Hubby is officially on holiday too :) Yay.

And it is holidays :)

Busy day but got cute Easter eggs (ducks) from a parent for helping her son out :) Then got home made pancake batter, went out for dinner with my department (Joscelyn was clingy and cranky before we left home...happy as lark being out and about...well before she started fading around 8pm) Now back home, she was too tired so straight into her pjs, some milk and to sleep. So I quickly added these pics and now am off to make pancakes before I shower and head to bed.
And since I don't work Fridays I am on holiday. Well i do have a bit to do but a nice little break awaits. Sorry so short and frank.

It's gonna be a bright sunshiny day :)

Finally an off day with Jos where we were actually able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. She loved being able to play in her sandpit, wander around the garden and sit under the table. She has developed a new habit of crawling under things and also lying on her stomach then rolling onto her back. She was crawling under the clothes horse today from one side to the other, very pleased with herself. She then just lay on the carpet looking up at me (First she lay on her tummy then rolled over) I am assuming she is watching the little kiddies at daycare who are unable to really crawl yet. Apparently she was doing it there yesterday and flashing them with big smiles.

Overall we had a good day. She has been having a bit of a cranky time, particularly in the mornings. She does not want to go with daddy but it is impossible to get ready with her because she wants to be held. I try dash off while daddy gives her breakfast so that before her and I leave I have a bit of time to play and give her lots of cuddles. She is more teary than usual and just a little fall will result in crying. Poor darling. Lots of changes and after a feel of her gums (and a bite!!) it felt a bit swollen on one side. Perhas the forst molars are moving around.

We finally went to swimming today after missing 3 due to coughing and sniffing coupled with yucky weather. Jos seems to be on the mend. She was not too thrilled in the water but who would be after wailing for an hour and a half and going through 3 outfits last night (she wriggles so much that it evidently pulls her nappy and the wee escapes) and then at 6, like clockwork, she was ready to start the day. We bring her to our room in the hope of her perhaps lying a little. Nope, a very short cuddle then she starts pointing at things she wants to hold, thsi is followed by her climbing off the bed and scouring the bedroom for exciting 'treausres' and then she heads out the door and usually to the kitchen, seeing which cupboards we have forgotten to pull the safetly catches on and pulls everything out while she waits for her tea.

Anyway after swimming Jos had an hour long sleep, she fell asleep in the car, I put her in her pram when we got home. She woke up so I picked her up and once again she fell asleep on top of me (dont try put her down, not an option!) sucking her thumb, head snuggled into my shoulder. I somehow fell asleep too, only briefly and just enjoyed the cuddles with her.

She ate all her lunch, then we went to the shop and daddy met us there (makes shopping easier since she doesnt like sitting in the trolley) so we could take turns letting her explore. She always goes the opposite way to us LOL. She pulled a few things off the shelves then chose an item, trotted down the aisle to put it into the trolley. So cute! As we were about to leave she spotted the bright shiny Easter eggs. Before daddy even noticed, she had undressed one and even had a bit of a munch on it.

Nearly holidays and Jacques told me tonight he has organised for us to go away next week. Yay for surprises :)

Be happy

Distance Ed tea and pink wheat bag

It felt like a surreal day today. I experience days like that when it seems like 'I am living in a dream' (I think this might be Roxette?) and also some things feel like deja vu. Not that I really believe in that but incidents happen that feel so familiar and you find yourself trying to remember if this has happened before.

Anyway, our morning tea was great. It was a time of bonding and since hubby had a free he was able to join us too which was nice. We ate far too much and no zumbe today to burn it up. The day included several meetings too, departmental and 'newbies'. I feel on top of most things so that is a good sign...unless I have missed something major, then I am enjoying my oblivion.

I feel as if I am not making sense. I had a myprodol and am feeling blurry and slightly dozy. LOL. To think I was considering taking two - my back is very very sore.

When I got home, Daddy fetched Josci from daycare today and they went to the shops bearing my pink wheat bag as a gift :) woo hoo. IT is on my back right now.

Anyway, let me attempt to go read a little and then to dreamland. Good night

Early Easter

I never find anything in my pigeon hole at school so imagine my delight upon the discovery of chocolates in there today. There were four but only two remain. I have saved one for Jos but she will have to wait until Wednesday because I don't like giving her chocolate late in the day and since I work Monday and Tuesday and only get home in the afternoon I won't do that. She doesn't eat much chocolate but when she does she so enjoys it. Her little lips smack together, making what sounds lik 'kissy' noises.

Anyway, we already attend this church. They gave to all staff. Yay. I can't believe the end of March is in sight. This year is going too fast. Anyway, I was also glad for the reminder that Easter is approaching. Life sometimes gets so busy that before you know it Easter is upon you and then a distant memory and you just didn't take the time to really acknowledge and soak in the sheer importance of it. Jesus died and rose again. This is fundamental to my beliefs as a Christian. And at Easter we remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. WE don't deserve it, we can't repay it but we can believe, we can obey, we can trust, we can surrender to Him. This is my prayer, to draw close to Jesus and really immerse myself in all that HE has done.

Thank you Lord for opening up a path to Heaven.

Daddy and daughter

We have had a fairly gloomy week again with much rain and clouds. I don't usually mind this weather but when your little girl is desperate to play outside just a few consecutive sunshiny days would be nice. Yesterday was glorious. The sun was out, it was hot but that crisp autumn breeze bit the early morning and evening. Naturally aftter such a dull week and beautiful day yesterday we expected that today would follow suit. Sadly we were mistaken. Rain started falling in the course night and continued for much of the day. Josci was desperate to get out. She still has a bit of a cough and after last weeks puddles adventure and sleepless night we thought to err on the side of caution. The rain had subsided by evening and Jos' desperation was erupting. We dressed her very warmly, including a hat and boots - to which she did not object - and we ventured out in the cool autumn air. The ground is pretty muddy and she enjoying 'glooping' around in the mud. She took me for a walk, then when daddy came out it was his turn to be led around the garden. She loves holding hands and also enjoys giving cuddles. IF you say ' coem give me cuddles' she will almost run to you, arms outstretched and dive into your chest. She particularly enjoys doing ths with daddy. She used to favour me more but of late she is sharing her affections and growing into a gorgeous little girl. I love watching these two together. My two lovelies :)

Bed bouncing

First of all discovered a cool new app to edit photos. Yay :) Finally a beautiful sunshiny day! We went to look at beds as it was advertised that there were super sales on - like on two beds! Anyway, Joscelyn loves bed shopping because whenever we go to Harvey Norman we look at the beds and she loves being bounced on them, lying on them etc. She also discovered this very cute little girl's bedroom suite and enjoyed that it was not too high so she could climb on and have little rolls around although I think she likes the big beds too as they are soooo big and so soft and comfy. After this we popped to Target. I was privileged enough to get a nap too :) Lovely day with my special family. Love them.

Friday with j-bug

Spent a lovely day off with Jos. She was pretty tired by the time we left for 'Rattle and Rhyme' this morning so in an attempt to keep her awake I played 'peek-a-boo' at the traffic light and made up some rapping that included clapping to keep her from drifting off. We also had our Friday cinnamon bun although by the time we got back to the car she fell asleep before I even started the engine. Got home and transferred her into her pram. She napped for 45 minutes. I picked her up and immediately she put her head on my shoulder and fell back to sleep for a further hour while I tried to read my book althoguh my arm was getting a little tired lying down so I just lay there and absorbed the cuddles with my baby girl. I know I have a similar picture to this earlier in my blog, but you can't get enough of moments like these. What a precious blessing we have. Plus did I mention how yum the risotto was I made for dinner. Oh and my back is super sore. Can't even sit on the floor. Went to the physio today. Hope it gets better soon! Will see if her pressing did me some good! Now time to watch a movie with my man :)

Harmony week morning tea :)

Depsite another rainy miserable day outside, much socialising went on at morning tea today as we celebrated Harmony week as a group. Several various dishes from different cultures including of course South Africa - I took pancakes (crepes as they are called in Aus) there was also milktart, rusks and boerewors. There was tiramisu, hot chips, timtams, afgans (NZ apparently) and much much more. My pancakes disappeared so fast!!!!

Overall a good day. My hours have been increased yet again, from 3 half days to 2 full days and half day to now 3 full days. Phew.

Now to do some reading....I have become somewhat obsessed with Pride and Prejudice that I will a) be very sad when it is finished b) will have to read it again! Everyone I encounter I try see which character they are most like from the novel...sad I know!!!

Nearly weekend. Whoop whoop

Holding hands

Now that my little munchkin is walking she has also realised how nice it is to hold hands...well most of the time although sometimes she is quite happy to sneak off (at the shops) but today she purposefully took my hand to lead me around. She is thoroughly enjoying her 'bouncy' ball and was leading me to go and recover it with her snd of course then throw it. She almost wobbles right off her feet at the speed she goes chasing after it LOL. She is a super cutie. She was all cuddles for daddy this afternoon. She runs and flops into him with her arms outstretched. She was so excited when he got home from work. We waited by the window and there was a white car parked across the road. She pointed to it said 'dada' and then trotted off to the garage door waiting for 'dadda' to appear. She had to wait a wee bit longer but was absolutely thrilled and squeaked a lot when daddy did get home. What a treasure. xx

hot chocolate :)

The coffe machine arrived at school today and right on time. I was in desperate need of a hot chocolate which the machine also makes. Hubby crazy reckons the coffee is weak. I had a sip and found it rather strong, but he likes strong coffee and me not so much. Anyway after a student sent me a very unpleasant email yesterday and then a parent got all aggro on the phone today I was super pleased for a hot choc. Only $1! Super...I fear it may become a habit.

Anyway, after puddle jumping on Saturday Joscelyn's cold came back with avengeance and we had a very long night. She seems better now.

I was still meant to take a photo of our visitors on Sunday. We had some school people over for a pork on the weber. Pity it was still pouring wiht rain though!! And yesterday despite losing power twice alst night, I must admit that the smile on my daughter's face when I fetched her from daycare was too gorgeous. Wish I got that on camera. What a blessing she is!

Tomorrow is our day off. We wont be swimming though. I am too afraid after Saturday. She is sounding much better but I don't want her to go backwards again.

Oh yes, last night when the power was out I was reading 'Pride and Prejudice' by touch light :) Loving it!!!

Sorry for two days of slack!! Cheerio :)

Puddle jumping

Probably not the best idea to go jumping in puddles (well looks more like a lake in the garden) but Josci was desperate to go outside and we had a wonderful time hopping, swinging and treading through the water. I swished her from side to side, we held hands and slowly fought our way through the deep water, in the pouring rain. We are both getting over colds, but we had so much fun while daddy (who usually does this kind of thing) was taking photos. It proved very difficult to coax her inside but after exploring all the water over and over again we enjoyed a warm shower afterwards. Bliss :)

World's greatest shave - bald for a good cause

Just over a week ago hubby decided to try raise some funds for the leukemia foundation and decided he would shave his hair for a good cause. He then told his grade 12's that of they raise $1000 he would wax his legs too. They got to around $5oo so he agreed to shave his legs. Great excitement today as they cut chunks out of his hair (While waitng for some clippers to arrive as ours broke on the spot!), then shaved his head leaving pieces all over to start with and then watching him shave his legs. I have always preferred him with longer hair but it is growing on me - scuse the pun LOL.

Must love hats

This morning while getting ready for work Jos was enjoying sporting daddy's cap (not that daddy really wears caps) looking super cute especially when it turned the wrong way a few times and she had to lift her head to see but rather that than take the cap off. LOL

Parcel

Today a parcel arrived from my brother and sister in law and nephew. They sent Jos a cute red polka dot hat and teddy bear and also a photo mobile. There was also the dungarees I have been waiting for excitiedly from my folks for Jos. Super cute. She is going to love it. WE were going to try put it on her today and take some pics but she was hungry for dinner, then messy so another day. Yay. Love parcels :) The hat is super cute, a bit floppy so I may just get a safety pin to pin it out of her eyes. She was wandering around the house with it. She hardly crawls anymore, only when she is in a super hurry - especially when daddy gets home from work and she hears the garage door open, she sprints up the passage to wait at the door for him. Today i was just trying to practice words with her - my bad when i said daddy, she left the bedroom hurriedly to go to the garage door. I felt so bad! She loves her daddy a LOT! tonight they were dancing around the tv room and she was beaming and laughing and squealing in delight. What a happy sight. How blessed to have these two in my life xoxo

Pink Lady

When I got to school today the 'Pink Lady' was perched on my desk. I thought it was one of my colleagues who thought I may need a sugar boost :) but after a little thought, I realised it must have been hubby and sure enough it was. She sat there much of the day tempting me with her crispy looking wrapper and the knowledge that creamy, brown, shiny chocolate was beckoning me. After several hours I finally succumbed and it was yummy :)

Today was hectic at work and Joscelyn spent 2 hours crying last night after a dirty nappy (well 12.30am until 2.30am). Needless to say it is only 7.30 pm but I am ready to go sleep. Although I stayed later at work and didnt feel I accomplished as much as I hoped I was really grateful to my head of department for all his time and help today to sort out a few things.

Anyway I think a chapter or two of Pride and Prejudice are in order, loving it, then dreamland.

You are what you eat :)

Love this Doctor!

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: Oh no. Wine made from fruit. Brandy distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two body, your ratio two to one.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy: No pain...good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food fried in vegetable oil. How getting more vegetable be bad?

Q
: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Oh no! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: You crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming good for figure, explain whale to me.

Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Well... I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

AND.....

For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Australians.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Australians.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Australians.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Australians...

5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Australians.

CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Love fern

After years of hinting I finally got a love 'fern'! Now hopefully it doesn't wilt :) - seen the movie 'How to lose a guy in 10 days'.

Had a good weekend although pretty tired, still trying to get rid of all the bugs attacking me. First mastitis then a head cold, now a soer thraot and nose blocked up high?? Hoping for a healthier week. Jos is still coughing so I am hoping to get her to the doctor again early this week. She seems pretty okay apart from the sniffles and coughing but is a bit cranky - although this may be due to lack of naps and her nas this week have been cut short because she wakes up to little coughing fits poor chicken. She has discovered life outside the house. She loves going riding on her bike in the road, she has also discovered the back garden and wants to go in and out all the time (we thus have several flies inside the house) and also loves opening and closing the sliding doors repeatedly. She is getting very confident with her walking, despite still looking slightly zombie-like with her arms outstretched in front of her.

The weekend seems to go o quickly with everything that needs doing. So wish for a cleaner and garden service! It is a pity Joscelyn hates the vacuum cleaner so. She screams, tears run down her face and she goes on until it stops. I can't ever vacuum if Jacques isnt here as one of us has to take her as far away as possible yet yesterday she sat happily outside while daddy mowed the lawn, and I believe the lawnmower is louder? Perhaps it is the pitch? Maybe it hurts her ears? I wonder what we can do?

This weekend she dumped 3 toilet rolls in the toilet, pushed the table all around the house, bruised her cheek when she fell on her slide, grazed her knee falling off her bike, tried to eat a bandaid, and and and....We really need to get a few first aid goodies together and not put any bandaids on just yet!

Anyway have a 'love fern' week :)

Mac :)

School issued me with a Mac today. Will no doubt be a learning experience but should make my life a little easier with marking and such.

Zumba was good. I missed last week due to mastitis so this week's little cold, although an irritant, did not put me off. I Zumba'd and it was great fun. I did feel a little flat and am quite tired now but a little bit swaying and some music, it instantly lifted my cold..I think LOL :)

Anyway, time to retire. Hubby has lots of marking so it is something between watching a girlie show, reading 'Pride and Prejudice' or sleeping????

Shopping with my j-bug

No swimming for us today as Jos is still sniffing, has a runny nose and is coughing. On our first attempt to get to the shop just before 10am, Jos fell asleep about 2 minutes in the car ride so I returned home. She slept a little while then woke. I picked her up and she fell back to sleep on my chest all snug and happy. She slept for about an hour and 15minutes - this was her only nap of the day so by this evening she was pretty exhausted.

Our shopping expedition was okay, although she did get a bit restless and wanted me to carry her but with a trolley, not really an option. She helped herself to a few items in the aisles and I forgot a few things but we had fun out and looked at everything in the shops and spoke about them. She gave a few people waves and smiles. Oh and her word of the week is 'boo'. She especially loves hiding behind a curtain, hand or just ducking and then says boo - well sounds more like bah but it is boo I know!

Power to the people

I am still very grateful to have power today, especially after fetching Jos from daycare today and they were still without power. The kiddies couldn't play outside due to all the rain flooding the play area which meant they were restricted to being indoors with no electricity. The staff could not warm up the little ones lunch or milk etc. And yet, they were still smiling! I take electricity for granted and just expect it to be on all the time, it is good to have a gentle reminder. Like when one is unhealthy, you so long for good health and so I look forward to be completely well again so that I can enjoy that too. We need these gentle reminders so that we remember to appreciate everything we have, those day to day luxuries we expect but that are 'luxurious' for those living a life of poverty. A steak, a hot bath, a chocolate - all things so easy to access for us, yet some people are starving, will never know electricity or enjoy a luxurious hot bath. They will not taste a choclate, sip a milkshake, lie on a soft bed, enjoy warmth in winter or a glorious blanket. Thank you Lord for all you have given me. I am so privileged and blessed. In saying that, help me to help others. Help me to see needs, to appreciate what I have but also to give up some of my 'luxuries' to help fellow man. This is how we make the world a better place, we do. We stop saying and thinking, we do. Please help me help the world - I need to wake up!!!

Soak in a hot bath

After a long day with a semi-cranky, semi sick baby, a sick mommy and no power, I took full opportunity of the time hubby and Josci went outside (yay, rain stopped) and had me a long hot soak. I have not indulged in a bath in so long, usually it is just a quick hop in the shower. The quiet was somewhat strange but I just lay there like a rhino in hot mud. Hmmm delicious.

It is quiet outside and I am hoping this is not the quiet before the storm. The rain has moved south but is apparently on it's way back and could develop into a cyclone. Please not! Only time will tell.

In the mean time, let me get my sick self into bed. Night night

Steak, egg and chips

We have not had steak in ages, especially a nice steak. While getting bread and milk today I spotted thick, delicious looking steak and could not resist. Hubby cooked the steak perfectly - medium - and popped out to buy us some chips.

IT is raining again. We woke up to an overcast, miserable morning which came as quite a surprise as we were expecting similar sunny weather to the last few days. Depsite being rainy, it was very muggy so I can't even say that the cool weather was pleasant. We were hoping to take Joscelyn out to the park today so she could ride her bike there, but the rain did not feel like cooperating. We went to church, although I sat in the 'nursery' room with Jos while she and Anna's little boy Levi rummaged through everything, banged, clanged and bashed all the toys in sight and left little opportunity for much listening. Jacques and I take turns, so at least he got to hear the sermon. I could catch it online...

Joscelyn is still coughing and sniffling today. She has moments of crankiness and neediness but is generally very busy so despite feeling unwell she is handling it pretty well unlike mummy who has caught her cold and feeling a little worse for wear. I don't know where she gets the energy from being sick, I mean I feel like a limp ragdoll. I am assuming the adventures of the house are far too exciting to miss out on.

Anyway I took my last (hooray) antibiotic tonight and some cold meds, I can feel them swaying me off into a mini hypnotic state so I had better get myself off to bed :) Good night all and have a happy week

Sunny day out

Today, after more than a year here, we finally visited Bundaberg. IT's about an hour and a half drive. I can't say I was terribly impressed. It wasn't bad, I thnk after a year of anticipation and everyone speaking about it we built it up a bit too much in our minds, but in saying that we had a wonderful family outing. We found a K-Mart and got the cutest red gumboots for Jos plus the shoes above for me for $5!!! They cant compare with my similar ones of $40 or so but hey, $5 for an extra pair is great :) I like the ones that are elasticated at the back and since we can't wear open toed shoes to school it is great to have these to just slip on. Now I just wish I could find some nice brown ones like this!

After Bundaberg we went in search of fish and chips at Bagara. A small coastal town. Again, a lovely lunch although I think by this time Jos, who still isnt well, was tired so after lunch we left. She had a small sleep in the car but was very unsettled and happy as anything when we got home. She practiced her walking skills a bit again today and is improving daily :) I see trouble LOL

Happy Saturday

Pinterest :)

Thank you to my friends, Sarah and Amanda, I have discovered Pinterest. It is pretty hard to explain, so the best thing I can say is a) google it b) it is like a huge pin board and it is categirised into sections of your choosing so as you find stuff you like on the net under certain topics and you want to keep them all in one place and easy to find, Pinterest is the place to do it. I did not get much time to play around on it today. Although my off day, Jos and I went to Rattle and Rhyme at the library, we then shared a cinnamon bun - I may have to buy her her own sonn - she ate two thirds of mine. Hubby forgot his sandwiches at home so we delivered them to school. On the way home Jos fell asleep. She slept for just over an hour before crying, I picked her up and held her and she fell asleep on my chest for another hour. She had a good rest. She needed a good sleep after having a very unsettled night last night. She is not well today poor chicken. Very runny nose, coughing and a little bit cranky and slight temperature. She needed lots of cuddles today so I just lay and enjoyed the moment of her just lying on me (although I did wish I had planned to have the earphones on and watch a girly show LOL) She hasnt had much of an appetite except for the cinnamon bun and milk, yoghurt and custard. Probably not the best things for a phlegmy chest but that is she wants to eat, so be it. She also enjoyed abit of watermelon tonight which was good.

I took her out in the road on her bike a bit, she was desperate to get out but once out there was not so pleased to be there. Perhaps the scorching heat had something to do with it. She did a little standing and walking but it seems to cause her more frustration, she falls and then she cries, not in pain but more as if she is not happy that she fell. She just wants to be able to walk I think.

We had plans for the beach tomorrow but not such a great idea with an unwell little person. Will see what happens.

I will see if I get time to do some pinning on Pinterest. Could be fun, I will give it a bash when I have a mo'. Happy Friday :)

Smell the coffee

I love opening a new tin of coffee. That smell of fresh coffee, that first whiff is like a little caffeine high for your nose. It kind of loses the smell after a while, like new shoes or a new car, they have that new smell only yot be lost.

Somehow this relates to my lesson for the day. I spoke of giving people a chance, not to judge and make an effort. Well 'said' person is trying to rule the roost and ruffling my feathers a little. You will be proud to know though that I restrained myself (since I can be a bit rash/outspoken) and have decided to think it through and have a clear head. The question now is though, what is the next move. How do you remain true to yourself, remain composed, voice your opinions and be a grown up about it when you just want to jump and stomp like a little kid. I must say though, I am not as bothered by it as I was a few weeks back when work had me a bit stressed. I have found my inner calm (mostly - this could be the antiobiotics talking) and hope to display it.

We had an interesting discussion at school today about South Africa and I may have gotten a bit worked up there. I loved my land but felt I would have a better life, a safer life here. I hated hiding my bag on the floor, knowing that I had to drive with my car windiw just a tad down as it is harder to break a window like that than if it is closed, I hated playing dodgems with the taxis, I hated the politics and maybe I was a coward for leaving and not staying to fight for my country. But living in fear was not pleasant. Living with burglar guards, assuming every noise was a robber, thinking every dog bark was to warn that a criminal was creeping around outside. I am probably more of a scaredy cat than many and just couldn't do it anymore. When Nelson Mandela was released there seemed to be a buzz in the air, a sense of hope and a future of promise. Instead it seems that the poor are getting poorer, jobs are less, the government departments are in disarray. Are the white people to blame for all this? Did Apartheid bring this upon us? Isn't it time to move on already? Sorry, we made a mistake. We are done saying sorry. Now get over it and move on already. It was meant to be the rainbow nation. The African drum still beats in my heart but the fear of Africa is even greater.

Who knows where that came from. I guess I am just astounded at people's behaviour - said person, the South African Government, and even people who just talk a whole lot of garbage and filth and seem to lack that little bit of class and respect for life...
