Gem squash.

Sadly finding gem squash in Australia is not common. My friend at work, Bridgit, brought me these today. She has found a person selling them at a market. Her and I are going to try fish out the seeds, dry them out and try grow them, just wondering how they grow? Like a vine perhaps, I must look it up. So chuffed to have some gem squash and looking forward to eating them - I wonder if Joscelyn will enjoy it. She is very fussy so we will wait and see. What a delight to find them on my desk, I wasn't quite feeling like myself today so it was a nice surprise to brighten up my day.

I also finally joined the toy library. My mum's group clubbed together for Josci's birthday. I was meaning to get there but we went away then with daycare starting, the library then closed while they moved. Finally we are members for the year, this way we can hire and return toys - saves money, and kiddies outgrow their toys so quickly that it is a great way to keep up to date toys for them that are age appropriate. I saw some little slides, will be perfect when Jos can walk and we have our shadecloth up outside :) Yay yay.

The senior school had their swimming carnival today (house gala for my South African friends) so the school was pretty empty. I had lunch with some of my people from DE. We spoke about harmony week and how we should bring food from different cultures. Just talking about vetkoek, koeksisters, milktart etc made me want some yummy yummy SA food!

Work went fine today. No dramas which was good. Had a long talk with my work colleague about boldness (she is at the same church as us and we have been discussing boldness and how we sometimes lack it) It isn't always easy and we don't always get the answers we want or expect but we need to pray for boldness to speak the truth without fear...not always easy.

That is all for today. Have a happy week :)

All in a day's work

Sunday was fun day :) Another sunny day in our part of Queensland. We went to church, stopped at Bunnings to buy some shade cloth and then did a few odds and ends around the house. Joscelyn had a great play. First she was into the charcoal and got filthy. She then got hold of her little watering can and drenched herself so we took all her clothes off although she didn't seem too impressed by this. She got in her sandpit, had a little play but then was a little tired so we got one of my plastic dishes stuck some water in and gave her a little clean. Soon she was changed ready for her milk and a little nap. And mommy got to have a small nap too. The fire was lit and ready to put the chicken flattie on and Josci's favourite meal - corn on the cob. Her and daddy charged around the garden with her on her bike. She loved it (Pic above). Needless to say she was a dirty little girl by the end of the day even with a splinter in her foot and exhausted at bed time. Good day with the family, great day. Love them xx

Bride :)

I have not seen a bride in ages! Super exctied to see one today. We were on our way back home and had to do a quick stop at the shop for bread and milk (as most shops are closed here on a Sunday) but Joscelyn was asleep in the car and she hadn't been asleep for long so if we stop the car she usuallu wakes up so Jacques went into the shop and drove around a bit. On my travels (around the block several times) I saw some very smartly dressed people and suspected a wedding was on. As I drove the final time I sat the wedding car pull up (the church is across the road from the shop) and as luck would have it, Jacques was on the road ready to hop in the car. So we stopped a little way back so I could catch a glimpse of the bride. Yay, she looked lovely. Didnt have a veil but just one of those tiny net things covering her face. A sleeveless dress with ties up the back. Reminded me of my own wedding day - the excitement and nerves. A day filled with happy memories, laughs, romance and hope. And now almost 7 years we are still holding hands, happy, in love :) And we have a gorgeous little girl. Life is good, God is good - we are so blessed and I hope the bride I saw today will have a life of bliss and blessings as she becomes a wife and and and.

Michelangelo

This here is our artist's very first piece of artwork. Daycare said she (Jos) was not too convinced with the paint on her fingers but she produced a masterpiece. Not sure if this is the right way (just becuase they put her name where it is does not mean it is the way the picture goes, besides when I was little I drew houses upside down then turned them around...each to their own...and sadly not very good at art) The nursery group played a bit in the sandpit today and apparently Jos quite enjoyed that so they put some sand in her painting to to add some texture.
After a fairly hectic week, this was a lovely way to end the working week a beautiful debut painting by my sweet baby girl.

Happy weekend everyone :)

Zumbaaaaaaaaa!!!

Sadly I did not take this picture. I was still going to take one but never got there - I think all the body jigging threw any ideas out my head. Yes my legs felt like jelly, yes I was breathless, yes my arms, legs and feet did not do what my brain wanted them to. Yes, I loved it! Zumba is one afternoon a week at school which is great. I was going to try do it in the evening but the evenings just seem so short so this was something I was thrilled about.
Jacques and I have also registerd on the million kilo challenge, yes i want to lose a million kilos!!! Let's hope we lose a bit of weight...
Also had a swimming lesson with Jos today. She was far more relaxed at swimming last year. Not so much this year. She doesnt want to face away from me or lie on her back as she can't see me. She clings on and is not very compliant. I just swoosh her around, give her lots of cuddles and if she wants to hold on then we just bounce around the pool like that. Maybe not everything the instructor is hoping for but I want her to enjoy it and not dread it so I follow her lead. She is far more relaxed in the ocean or when we are just in a pool that doesn't entail lessons. I am sure she will get into the hang of it..it has been a great many changes to her life this year so I understand her caution.

Kept thinking it was Wednesday today??? So quite nice to think tomorrow is Friday. Web conferencing for the first time. No idea how it will go but will be a good experience. Hoping tomorrow is not like Wednesday!!! At least it is weekend on the doorstep. YAY :)

An evening stroll

After a day I am happy to see end, we ate dinner then went for a lovely evening stroll. Along the way I saw so many pretty flowers waving at me - they were obviously rejoicing after all the rain. We also saw the kitty that we have seen before. We tried to call it over but it just lay there. Joscelyn was fascinated by it. She loves animals. She squeaks when she sees bird, the neighbours dogs and today at the kitty cat. There was also a lady walking a puppy and she pointed and squawked in delight at the little furry creature.

I wish I had something a little stronger than wine tonight. Long day at work, but crisis averted...for now :)
